zub AG announces the first series of the MACS6 generation – another development specifically for drive positioning and synchronization.

Together, maxon and its subsidiary zub machine control AG develop efficient motion solutions for drive technology, creating system solutions from a single source, with uncompromising quality and groundbreaking innovation. The MACS modules autonomously handle closed-loop control of the highly dynamic positioning and synchronization functions for up to 32 axes of servo and asynchronous motors or control small devices. The control devices are particularly used in applications where PLC solutions are too expensive or do not meet the specific demands.

With its latest development, the MiniMACS6-AMP-4/50/10, zub AG is launching a cost-effective solution for highly dynamic and precise movement of up to four brushless or up to six brushed motors. Position feedback or master signals are received at incremental encoder inputs. Optionally, Sin/Cos encoders or SSI encoders can be connected.

A range of digital input and outputs processes sensor signals and controls actuators. The number of inputs/outputs can easily be expanded by connecting of a CANopen IO module. Additionally, this controller is equipped with two CAN interfaces and one USB interface, which makes connection to a higher-level system possible. Other common industrial bus systems such as EtherCAT® can be integrated as an option. A simple and efficient motion control programming language (written in C) makes it possible to operate this motion controller as stand-alone solution (without a higher-level PC or PLC).

The size of the controller makes it suitable for system developers who design autonomous robots or shuttle systems, e.g. for warehouse logistics. The controller can also be used for laboratory automation devices, or for any special device requiring a compact drive.

A significant advantage is the complete drive solution with integrated power stages. The greatest added-value is offered by the possibility to freely program the device in a language based on C, with powerful motion-control commands, including support of hierarchical state machines, within ApossIDE®, a license-free automation software.
